🍲 ÁO BÀ BA: PHO FOR THE SOUL
ベトナム料理アオババ姫路店
An unforgettable, authentic Vietnamese experience in Japan.
I only have great things to say about this charming restaurant.
Immersive atmosphere. Heavenly food. Kind staff. Reasonable prices.
Áo bà ba Himeji will transport you to Vietnam.
The front of Áo bà ba Himeji is bursting with colour, beautiful lanterns, and photos of mouth-watering dishes—all enticing you to enter. When we stepped inside, it felt as if we had been transported to a traditional restaurant in Vietnam.
Decorating the walls were unique traditional masks, iconic non la (straw hats), and vibrant lanterns of all shapes and sizes. We sat in the wooden booth-style area, which felt like our own little oasis. It was a scorching hot summer day in Himeji, but Áo bà ba provided us with a cool and relaxing retreat.
Áo bà ba Himeji has both meat and vegan options. The menu is in Vietnamese and offers a wide selection of traditional dishes. To access the English menu, scan the QR code shown on the original menu. This will show the whole menu including a page of fantastic vegan options.
Feast your eyes on the impressive vegan options:
- Mushroom and fried tofu vegan salad
- Vegetable and tofu fried spring rolls
- Deep-fried tofu with lemongrass sweet and sour sauce
- Coriander garlic toast
- Green papaya sandwich
- Pho rice noodle soup
- Stir-fried rice noodles
- Garlic fried rice
Keep in mind that each store offers its own vegan menu, so some meals may only be available in certain restaurants.
I tried the Pho and shared the vegetable and tofu fried spring rolls with Jopaz. It was my first time trying Pho and it was the most flavourful, addictive, and memorable dish I’ve had in a while.
I was really impressed. I now fear that I won’t ever experience vegan Pho like that again!
The spring rolls were equally as delicious. They were crunchy, flavourful and were perfect alongside the Pho. Jopaz chose the traditional Pho (with meat) and it quickly became her favourite Pho - ever.
I’m extremely happy to share that there are various Áo bà ba restaurants in Japan. Locations include Himeji, Osaka, Hiroshima, Okayama, and Fukuyama.
Have a peek at the menu on Áo bà ba’s website - you won’t be disappointed. Their website is in Japanese, however, a translation function is available.
Áo bà ba Himeji left us with a wonderful impression and full, satisfied bellies. We still can’t stop talking about how amazing the food was.
Visit Áo bà ba Himeji – you’ll be in for an unforgettable Vietnamese treat.
Until next time,
Lana
